ProQual Level 7 Diploma in Aesthetic Practice — Chelmsford, Essex

Most practitioners spend years working under CPD certificates no insurer, regulator or client can verify. The ProQual Level 7 Diploma in Aesthetic Practice changes that it's the UK's highest regulated aesthetic qualification, formally qualifying you in botulinum toxin and dermal fillers, aesthetics' two most commercially significant injectables, to an Ofqual-verified standard.

Sitting at postgraduate-equivalent Level 7 on the RQF, it aligns with HEE's 2015 recommendations and is recognised by every major UK insurer for full injectable scope. There's no higher ProQual qualification delivered at LBL Academy, Chelmsford, and issued by ProQual AB, this is the diploma that defines the ceiling.

What You Will Learn — All Six Mandatory Units

Every unit in the Level 7 Diploma is mandatory. There are no optional modules this is a complete injectable qualification, not a pick-and-mix programme.

Unit 1 - Consultation for Individualised Facial Aesthetic Treatments

Advanced client consultation at Level 7 standard taking a full medical history, identifying absolute and relative contraindications for injectables, assessing facial anatomy and skin quality, documenting findings and building a treatment plan personalised to the individual client's facial structure and goals. Consent processes for high-risk treatments and how to manage client expectations honestly and professionally.

Unit 2 - Psychological Aspects of Facial Aesthetics

Understanding why clients seek aesthetic treatments psychological drivers, body image, the role of social media on treatment expectations and the ethical responsibility of the practitioner when a client's expectations are unrealistic or potentially harmful. Recognising body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) and knowing when to refer rather than treat. This unit differentiates a Level 7 practitioner from someone who simply knows how to inject.

Unit 3 - Values, Ethics and Professionalism in Aesthetic Practice

The legal and ethical framework governing injectable aesthetic practice at the highest level. JCCP standards, the evolving UK licensing landscape, scope of practice at Level 7, professional accountability, record-keeping, data protection and the practitioner's responsibilities when things go wrong. Understanding the difference between what you are technically capable of and what you are ethically and professionally authorised to do.

Unit 4 - Aesthetic Injectable Therapies for Facial Treatments with Botulinum Toxin

Full clinical training in botulinum toxin facial anatomy at injectable depth, muscle groups, toxin action and dosing principles, product reconstitution and handling, injection technique for the upper, mid and lower face, marking protocols and the management of asymmetry. Practical training covers the core treatment areas: forehead lines, glabella, crow's feet and additional areas as clinically appropriate.

Practical Training — What It Looks Like

At Level 7, practical assessment is rigorous. You are not assessed on whether you can perform a treatment you are assessed on whether you can perform it safely, adapt to the individual client, justify your clinical decisions and manage any deviation from the expected outcome.

Training at LBL Academy

covers supervised practice on live models across both botulinum toxin and dermal filler treatments. You work progressively building technique and clinical confidence before moving to formal observed assessments.

Observed practical assessments

are conducted by a qualified ProQual assessor. Each assessment includes the full clinical encounter consultation, consent, treatment delivery, aftercare instruction and documentation. You will be assessed across multiple clients with different presentations, not the same treatment repeated.

Your portfolio

is reviewed by ProQual's External Quality Assurer before your certificate is issued. The EQA process ensures that the assessment standard at LBL Academy is consistent with the national Level 7 standard your qualification means the same thing regardless of where you trained.

Progressive Skill-Building

Each supervised session builds directly on the last, so technique and clinical confidence develop in stages rather than being expected all at once before formal assessment begins.

Why Level 7 Matters for UK Aesthetic Licensing

The UK government is actively developing a statutory licensing framework for aesthetic treatments. The Health and Care Act 2022 gave ministers the powers to implement this, and the DHSC's 2025 consultation response outlined a risk-tiered classification system for treatments.

  • Botulinum toxin and dermal fillers sit in the highest-risk tier. When licensing is enforced, the practitioners who will be best positioned are those holding regulated qualifications on the Ofqual framework exactly what the ProQual Level 7 Diploma is.

  • CPD certificates will not satisfy licensing requirements. A ProQual Level 7 Diploma already meets and exceeds the qualification standard that licensing is being built around. Training now puts you years ahead of practitioners who are waiting to see what regulation requires before they act.

Your Career After Level 7

The ProQual Level 7 Diploma opens the commercial and professional scope that most aesthetic practitioners are working toward. Understanding what it enables practically and commercially is worth knowing before you enrol.

Full injectable practice

botulinum toxin and dermal fillers across the face, insured and licensed to the highest non-surgical standard. The treatments most in demand, at the qualification level that supports full commercial delivery.

Premium client market

clients seeking advanced injectable treatments increasingly research practitioner credentials before booking. A ProQual Level 7, visible on Ofqual's public register, is a verifiable trust signal that a CPD certificate is not.

JCCP registration eligibility

the Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners is the most widely recognised voluntary register in UK aesthetics. Level 7 qualifies you for JCCP practitioner registration an increasingly important credential for clinic positioning and client confidence.
And for practitioners with Level 7 ambitions: the door to dermal fillers and botulinum toxin treatments is only open with a Level 6 Diploma in hand.

Training and education pathway

the Level 7 Diploma positions you to train others. Combined with the ProQual Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training (also available at LBL Academy), it gives you the full dual credential qualified injectable practitioner and qualified educator.
